Specifications: The HT SS2300 features special enclosure bass reflex speakers. The AV receiver has a 96k 24bit PCM, thirteen different audio modes as well as an S-master digital amplifier. It can support Dolby Digital Decoding, and Dolby Pro Logic Decoding amongst others. The sound system provides four ports that support displays of up to 1080 resolution. Also there are three analog audio inputs, one media digital port, a coaxial digital input, an antenna terminal, and two optical inputs.
Design: Sony are famous for manufacturing products in stylish black shades, the HT-SS2300 Home Theater System is no different. Featuring Sony’s well known black color scheme with silver trims on the speakers and blue lights for the AV receiver, it is a product which is very stylish and would not look out of place in any home. It can be described as being both elegant and simple. The channel system can work with other manufactures of electronic equipment though it was designed to be integrated with other Sony products primarily, for example the Sony Blu Ray player and Bravia HDTV range.
Set Up: The system is very simple to set up and operate due to an informative user interface that is text based. The whole array takes up a small amount of space and is ideal for both small bedrooms and larger living areas. Even if you are not well known in your home as being a techie you should be able to understand the digital cinema auto calibration tool without much effort. There are also plenty of manual options to alter and tweak the set up.
Performance: Sony are synonymous with designing top of the range audio products and this home theater system continues the standard. The sound quality is crystal clear with even high notes which may not be so audible on other devices ringing as they have been designed to. The bass is deep and thunderous enough to rattle any window panes and floor boards. Though it has been designed mainly for use with other Sony products, the HT SS2300 only has a slight drop in quality when integrated with non-Sony equipment.
